Many of you are facing a problem in relation to clearing clogged toilets well plumbers are the one who can provide you the right solutions.

Like sinks, toilets can become clogged, but for toilets the problem may be more difficult to solve. The first thing to do is to forget about using lye. Toilet bowls, made of vitreous china, can be cracked by the heat developed by the lye, and there’s always the possibility that lye may damage the bowl directly.

A first start on a clogged toilet is to use a plunger. But before you do, it would be helpful to learn a bit more about toilets and how they work. When you flush a toilet the action of removal of water plus waste is a siphoning one.

Start with drawing 1. A represents the bowl, and B is the trap. If we pour water into the bowl at a slow rate, the trap will fill, and the remaining water will flow through C and D. This isn’t a siphoning action.

The opposite action is to fill the bowl with water so rapidly that both trap B and pipe D contain water (drawing 2). As a result, the water level in bowl A will rise since trap B and pipe D will be unable to  Now that you are ready to clear the toilet bowl with your “plumber’s friend,” examine the rubber force cup on this tool. It should have a fold-out section, or lip. Lubricate the lip with petroleum jelly. The idea here is to have a snug fit on the flow out pipe of the bowl. Once you have the plunger in position, move the wooden handle back and forth rapidly about a dozen times. Try to keep the handle perpendicular to the drainage hole of the bowl.

Smear lip of toilet plunger with petroleum jelly. Plunger must be vertical. Move handles up and down to dislodge clog. Water level in bowl must be above rubber cup of plunger.

Naturally, you will need to test to determine if you have managed to clear away the blocked passage. The easiest way, but not the best, is to flush the toilet. The problem here is that you may not have cleared the clog, so you will end up by having a flooded bathroom floor. Instead, take a large container, such as a pot, fill it with water and then pour the water into the bowl. If the clog has been removed, you will not be able to fill the bowl with water since part of it will keep escaping down the drain. You can then flush the drain in the usual way, with the expectation that the force of the drainage water will clear away any remaining debris.

It’s possible that your initial efforts with the plunger will not clear the clog. This can happen when you use the toilet bowl as a diaper disposing unit. Diapers are absorbent but they just aren’t designed to pass through the trap in a toilet.

For this next technique take a large pot or kettle and fill it with hot water from your sink  faucet. Then put the pot or kettle on your stove and heat it. What you want isn’t just hot, but boiling, water.

When the water boils, don’t try to heat it any further. It will not get any hotter than it is and will just boil off. Pour the water into the toilet bowl. Don’t flush the bowl. Now repeat this procedure about two or three times.
